State of the Writer Update

Well guys I’m up to 7k on Falon III (due to redoing the front end) which is tentatively titled The Rising but may be changed to The Channeling depending on a number of factors which include what I actually end up writing and manage to put into the book as well as the cover situation.

Right now my brother is between artists or soon will be so we’re trying to get the covers set up in advance while we still can.

As far as Admiral’s War Part One its still selling strong, although there has been a definite drop off since we passed the one month/30 day mark and aged off amazon’s new release list.

Other than that just the usual.  And I would like to take another moment to thank all of my readers for making it possible for me to write for them.

thanks guys and gals,

(Sorry, didn’t know where else to post this.)

    Hello Mr. Skywatcher,

Sorry, I know I shouldn’t do this, but I just had to get these idea’s out of my head. Yes, I am afraid most of this is a “fan with idea’s” paper. Apologies in advance, but I just couldn’t help it; I love your Spineward Sectors Universe!

First off, loved your newest one, Admirals War. That was wonderful, and I can’t wait for the next one to come along! The Imperials can’t call him a fake with a straight face anymore; they had every single advantage in their system-wide trap and they still couldn’t seal the deal! On top of that they lost a lot of ships, including a ton of Destroyers and fighters!

God I bet Jenaski is ready to kill someone over that.

Now they have to rest, recover, and get ready for round two. Looking forward to seeing what happens, and to seeing Jason finally receive, or forcibly take, some long overdue respect from the “official professionals.” I wouldn’t be surprised if he busts out a neural whip on the next SDF Admiral who tries to imitate Silverback!

They are the ones who called him the Tyrant of Cold Space, maybe embracing the title and actions, at least among those infamous “fleet meetings” will finally get the allied officers in line.

Now comes the “ideas” part of this letter. Sorry. I will endeavor to be brief.

If/When the Lucky Clover shows up and kicks ass, proving Spalding right with his designs and theories, I imagine Jason will commission more ships based off that. I know I would. I figure one can go to Druid, and the other to Archibald.

Druid’s would cut out the spinal plasma weapon, and instead, be more like a Fleet Carrier; housing multiple Duralloy II based Corvettes, Cutters, Gunboats, Fighters, and Assault Shuttles.

He is a Commodore, and a good one, so commanding a lot of ships is nothing new for him, and this super ship would allow him to have long, and fast reach, with some real combat weight behind it, allowing him a lot of options like raids, assaults, boardings, pincer attacks, so on. His super ship would be somewhat hollow on the inside, and would lack a ship killer like the Plasma Gun on the Lucky Clover, but the trade off is instant reinforcements, and flexible battlefield options.

Archibalds would be different from either, since with the size of these new ships, he has the standard battleship designed weaponry, but also has antimatter powered lasers built into his broadsides.

With them being Battleship level lasers rather than cruiser, he could fit probably 4 on each side of his super-ship, maybe two on the front, a couple at the back, even a few pointing “up” and “down” on his ship, allowing him a sort of 360 firing capability. He wouldn’t have extra ships or a ship killer weapon, he would have instead a fleet brawler, where he could get into the guts of a fleet, and hit them from every angle, hard.

The other idea is Duralloy II bucking cables. Maybe mounted on ships designed to take a beating, with big engines, to work together and latch a ship, then forcibly slow it down for boarding shuttles to make their runs. Got the idea from towing ships in Homeworld; they allowed you to capture ships if you could get them close to the enemy ships and subdue them.

    That’s it! I promise!

Otherwise, found some YouTube videos you might like. They are about a pair of PC games called EVE and Star Citizen, and some of them remind me of your work!

    EVE Online: “I was there”
    EVE Online: Retribution Trailer
    EVE Online: Odyssey Trailer
Recording History: The Bloodbath of B-R5RB
EVE Online The Butterfly Effect Trailer
Live to Your Own Beat: The Drake Cutlass Commercial

And a host of other EVE and Star Citizen trailers, that are all pretty cool! Maybe they will inspire, hope they at least entertain!

Finally, a question about those swords. Clearly they are more than they seem, and Jason, or rather Capria had one, while Tracto apparently has lots. Are there other famous blades out there? Maybe in a museum or a private collectors vault?

I can totally see Gants, Darrius, Mike, and a host of other side guys getting jammed together on a sword quest across Sector 25 while the Reclamation Invasion is stalled as all sides repair and regroup. Maybe a side novel like Admirals Lady: Ashes for Ashes, Blood for Blood?

Last question: A lot of Tractoans, and probably some Promethians and Caprians got ahold of those Force Blades, or Blades of Light from the boarding action on the Cruiser that became the Furious Phoenix. And I’m guessing more showed up once they captured those ships during the ambush of Wessex. Couldn’t a programmer make a point of resetting the gene-lock?

Like Mike, and maybe pick up a nickname like Techno Mage for his efforts?

But shouldn’t someone be trying to hack them and make them usable for the troops? Somewhere in the fleet, just for the hell of it? A hackers hobby, similar to the engineers making the droid gunboats their hobby?

    Anyway, just curious about that.

That concludes this long and in-depth fan letter. Hope it didn’t annoy, and hope to read more of your work soon! And your brothers too!

      Cool. Can’t wait!

Check out Rebel Galaxy, either the YouTube trailers, or get the game for Xbox or ps4, it’s a download game, quite good with an awesome soundtrack and a beautiful look and feel.

Looking forward to the coming plot twists and turns, and really looking forward to more of your excellent work!

    Hey,
I noticed that there has been no update for a couple of months now. I read in the amazon forum that the book was to be released at the end of march. Is there an update on the ETA for book release?
    Thanks,

How’s the progress on your book? I hope it is going well. Say, would a little spoiler be possible? Will there be another showdown with a certain princess? 😀

Falon III is at the beta reader stage over at pacificcrestpublishing.com for those of you who just can’t wait. If you don’t mind helping to ferret out all those aggravating little typos and bad grammar you can go over there, sign up if you haven’t already and within twenty four hours or a lot less my brother/editor eill approve you and you can read the book in pre-release draft form for the small of being asked to help beta/edit and maybe even (gasp-lol) being asked to put up a review after the book comes out.

Not entirely sure the actual release date on amaon for those purists among us as it is officially out of my hands and in the editors.

    enjoy!
